I suppose it was inevitable: Google has pulled their ads from my site, no doubt because it "promote[s] discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age." In Kafkaesque fashion, the email didn't mention the specific offense, only that they are "unable to display ads that would provide a valuable experience for your site's users or our advertisers." The offending post was Saying something worth saying.
Interestingly, althought the email also said that Google's "program specialists regularly review sites in the AdSense program," I suspect this was not a routine review. Katie's Dad has Google ads on his site, which expresses views similar to those found here, and they are still up. Instead, I suspect that one of the liberals who wound up here by my link to the blog in my SDN forums signature reported the site to Google as offensive, fulfilling the left-wing dream of shutting down people who oppose liberalism. Joseph Stalin would be proud.
Oh, well. Maybe this will spur me on to fulfil my dream of creating other, more profitable blogs, like this doctor who launched his blog while still in medical school, leaving Wise Man's Heart pure and undefiled by commercialism.

Sorry they've decided to remove your Google ads. However, it could have been worse. I've seen some sites with a traditionalist bent that have Google ads that promote the opposite lifestyle, probably based on keywords sucked from the site. One I recall promoted a homosexual publication on a site with a strong anti-homosexual behavior position.
I like MacRumors; glad to see it makes money for its blogger. Hope you can do something equally awesome and leave Wise Man's Heart for personal musings and non-commercial content.
God bless, and keep up the good work,
Laurel
Yeah, Laurel, I've seen sites like gatesofvienna or some such with ads for Muslim dating sites... lol.
I wouldn't worry about it, Herm.
Good to see the recent activity here, Hermes. It looks like I have some catchin' up to do.
The great thing about MacRumors is that it not only makes money for Dr. Kim; it makes enough money that he decided to quit his day job. That is quite inspiring to me, since deep down, I have always wanted to be a writer more than anything else. People on the medical path aren't supposed to admit this, because the cliche is that you should only become a doctor if there's nothing else you could see yourself doing, but while of course there are things about medicine that interest me, one of the reasons I went into it is that, well, it's a good steady day job. And if I didn't need a day job, I'm not sure I'd do it. Like Arnold Kim.
Terry, I'm glad you appreciate the increased posting. It's definitely something I want to keep up, so please do keep checking back.
